The beginning of every month starts with a bang in downtown Dayton. First Friday is a free event held from 5 to 10 p.m. at several locations throughout downtown.
This art hop features exhibit openings at the galleries, along with a variety of entertainment options, including an urban street cycling ride, bonfires, arts demonstrations, live music and more. Add to that everything going on at the restaurants, bars, nightclubs, theaters, comedy club, movie theater and more that make up the downtown mix. Brochures with detailed information about specific happenings during each First Friday are available at participating venues. First Friday is presented by the Downtown Dayton Partnership. First Friday programming is supported by grants from the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District and the Ohio Arts Council.

Mark your calendars now for the 2012 Urban Nights events on May 11 and September 14 from 5 to 10 p.m. What is Urban Nights?
Urban Nights is a free event that showcases downtown’s dining, nightlife, art, music, retail, urban living options and more twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall. The event has been described as a huge, all-inclusive street party and open house for downtown, with something for everyone to enjoy. Businesses and restaurants offer special discounts, artists and galleries open their doors to the public, musicians and entertainers of all kinds perform throughout the center city, and downtown’s most impressive urban living options are open for tours. More than 100 creative places and spaces are part of the event, including locations throughout downtown, the Oregon Arts District and the Wright-Dunbar Business Village.

Typically, more than 30,000 people are expected to pack the streets, so come join the fun and experience your downtown! More information about the next Urban Nights will be posted closer to the event date. –from the Downtown Dayton Partnership website
